This 16-hour course is brought to you by Medicine in Bad Places. NAEMT’s Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. It is designed to decrease preventable deaths in a higher risk situations. The course presents the three phases of tactical care: Direct Threat -Care that is rendered while under potential threat environment (e.g., potential explosion, structural collapse, shooting scene, assault on scene, etc.), Indirect Threat -Care that is rendered while the threat has been suppressed, but may resurface at any point, and Evacuation Care -Care that is rendered while the casualty is being evacuated from the incident site.
The 16-hour classroom course covers the following topics: Hemorrhage control; Surgical airway control and needle decompression; Strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments; Caring for pediatric patients; and techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety.
NAEMT’s TECC course is endorsed by the American College of Surgeons, meets the guidelines established by the Committee on TECC and the updated National Tactical Emergency Medical Support Competency Domains. Additionally, we will go over all items recommended and provided in the Medicine in Bad Places IFAK listed below that will be offered as an option to purchase. The cost of the course is $359 or 379 with IFAK (Depening on TQ preference) and $300 without IFAK.
The TCCC class offers 16 Continuing Medical Education credits for any certified EMT or Paramedic and is recognized by National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians At the completion of this course, each student will receive a TECC certification from NAEMT.
