DO WHAT MAKES SENSE (Part 2) Dr Tim Tan and Phil Suarez review the logistics and challenges of starting from the ground up in a hostile environment. NYC Medics, a global disaster relief organization that has been responding to disiaters worldwide for years found a unique set of challenges when setting up a FOB (forward operating base) in Mosul, Iraq to treat trauma patients that had no other care. They encountered adults, combatants and civilians, children, the elderly all while taking hostile fire at any given moment. They had to be resourceful, always on guard, and had limited supplies to treat hundreds of wounded.
